Using home ingredients #5


Sadly this is the end of the 5 beauty do it yourselves using home food and ingredients. The last one is using cucumber, no it's just not for adding flavor to your water or making pickles! Cucumber got soothing properties to it that helps with redness and dark circles. Well I hope you like this little top 5 of mine. ♥ KT 

Cucumber oat mask :


  • Half of cucumber
  • Two tablespoons of oat
  • The juice of half of lemon
  • One tablespoon of honey


- Put the cucumber, cut into pieces in the blender. Add the oat flakes, the juice of half a lemon and honey. Blend until ingredients are mixed together.Apply this in areas most affected by acne. Massage gently to exfoliate and then leave for 15 -20 minutes before removing the mask with water.

Cucumber toner : 

  • 1/2 cucumber with peel, chopped 
  • 3 tablespoons witch hazel 
  • 2 tablespoons distilled water

- Put all of the ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheese cloth to get all the solids that might be missed while blending. You can use an old bottle from another product or a new one just make sure it's cleaned out and has a tight fitting lid. Store  toner in the refrigerator for a longer shelf life—it should last for several weeks.This toner is very mild and works well for all skin types. Cucumber is great for soothing and softening skin
 If you slice cucumber thinly you can apply it to your eyes when you have time to relax with a mask on. It will depuff your tired looking eyes, get rid of dark circles. 

Hair mask for chlorine damaged hair : 

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 quarter of a peeled cucumber
- Blend the egg, olive oil and  peeled cucumber. Spread evenly through your hair, leave on for 10 minutes, then thoroughly rinse. For the best results year-round, continue this treatment monthly. This would also work if you have course or very damaged hair. 

Cucumber and yogurt mask ( combination skin types) 

  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 1 tbsp plain/natural yogurt ( also can use plane greek yogurt ) 
- Puree the cucumber in a blender. Mix in the yogurt. Apply all over face and neck. Relax for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water, then follow with a splash of cold water.

Cucumber and Avocado mask ( for all skin types ) 

  • 1/2 cup chopped cucumber
  • 1/2 cup chopped avocado
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 teaspoons powdered milk
- Blend all the ingredients together until they form a smooth, paste-like consistency. The mask can either be used immediately or left in the fridge for half an hour first. Massage 2 tbsp of the mask onto face and neck using circular upward motions. Keep mask on for 10- 30 minutes, or until the mask is dry. Rinse off and pat dry.
